CAST AND CREW

ADAM DEACON

Just over a decade ago, Deacon beat three Hollywood A listers to win the coveted BAFTA Rising Star Award. However due to an undiagnosed mental condition, unlike his fellow nominees his star failed to rise further. Since then, Deacon has been slowly working on both himself and the craft that he so loves and with a multitude of projects in the pipeline, 2023 will see this talented actor fulfil the potential that the BAFTA board saw all those years ago. Deacon gives a stand out performance, proving his comedic chops are just as well oiled as his dramatic talent.

TOBIAS JOWETT

Joining Deacon on his adventure into the countryside, is newcomer and National Youth Theatre alumni Tobias Jowett, Deacon helped Power pick Jowett out from dozens of actors, as they both saw a naturalism in his audition and his innate sense of comedy timing. Jowett also reminded Deacon of himself when coming up the ranks and so was extremely giving with advice during rehearsals. The result is nothing short of an amazing acting debut.

The films writer/director – Damian Power started his career in the casting department on dramas such as Queer as Folk and The Factory, but then quickly moved into producing and directing factual entertainment shows. Power was also chosen out of hundreds to join Emmerdale’s BAME Director’s scheme, a week long workshop which would lead to an opportunity to become part of Emmerdale’s pool of Directors. Completing the course Power quickly realised that this ‘corporate creative’ life wasn’t for him and quickly set about producing his first independent short film – Pleasureland.

In the interim Power Directed such as shows TOWIE and Made in Chelsea, where he currently Series Directs the latter. Working on such shows, gave Power the opportunity to meet like-minded crew members who were also well versed in setting up ‘scenes’ in a short space of time. This culminated in a small team ready and primed to make a feature film on a small budget and an even tighter shooting schedule.

Power believed in his project so much, he invested every penny of his savings into the film and spent lockdown crafting the best possible film he could make. Writing, producing, directing and editing the entire film, this really was a labour of love for the Director, who could not be prouder of the results.
